Session 1: YOU AS A LEADER – Cynthia S. Rowan, Ph.D.
In partnership with CFT, the first-ever NJBankers Emerging Leaders Program was launched on Wednesday, September 28, 2016. The 9-month program combines classroom, online, and experiential learning on topics designed to develop emerging bank leaders in the areas of leadership behavior, communication, team development, change management, talent development, and leadership strategy.
At the program orientation, participants and their mentors each met the Academy’s faculty, Cindy Rowan, Ph.D. (Performance Management Solutions), Al Giobbie (The Provident Bank), Susan Mach, Ph.D. (Mach Creative Services Inc.), and Connie Whitman (Whitman & Associates.)
Cindy facilitated the Orientation Agenda and explained the program’s expected outcomes. She introduced the NJBankers staff and asked faculty members to introduce themselves and talk a little about their part in this program. Cindy also asked Karen McMullen, Senior Vice President/Regional Director of CFT to say a few words about the launch of the leadership program which she and Cindy had been developing for nearly two years. Karen said she was delighted that NJBankers saw value in the curriculum and added the Leadership Academy, in partnership with CFT, to their menu of offerings.
Participants then shared their “Me Box” which included their personal values, describing the people who influence their lives, and explaining how they chose their mentors. They also shared the goals they want to achieve in the program.
